Playing a whole song without stopping or breaking a string.

Knowing that I'm better than I was yesterday but not as good I'll be tomorrow.

(And maybe I'll figure out how to write my own music, but if I can't I'll just play anyway...)

Not as difficult as you might think. No big secret just keep trying (and recording or writing it down using any method that works for you).

Oh Ok. There was this one day where I was riding quite an old horse and we were learning how to do a half pass (the horse goes forward and sideways and the legs cross over). Anyhoo didn't think it would happen but, bugger me, he did it as soon as I asked him to. It doesn't sound much but it meant a lot to me.

I've been playing guitar (semi)professionally, on and off, for 30 years and have never managed to write as much as a single bar of original stuff. Can copy almost anything and spent a few years recording midi file backing tracks for singers etc but not an original thing has ever leaked from my fingers...

Think you need to start running classes Clipheed !!!

I bet you've messed with some chords and thought, that sounds good (maybe a wee melody was running through your head as you were playing). Build on that, record the chord sequence and play on top with a melody or lead line, add some words or counterpoint.

Just keep doing it, add the layers to the ideas it doesn't have to be perfect it just needs to sound 'right' to your ears. You don't need to have spent four years at the RSAMD to call yerslf a composer just do it.

I think those days are getting close!

Luckily I meant more the fact I'd managed to grow such a little smasher in my own belly.
