I like this bit in the Economist;
Her struggles had a theme: the right of individuals to run their own lives, as free as possible from the micromanagement of the state.

But yes, given hindsight she might have been a bit less eager to give such freedom to huge financial corporations, which can actually damage individual liberty at times.
But as I have said before, she had to do the job without the benefit of hindsight.And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014Comment

Her record is mixed, and she did more outside Britain than within (most importantly with Reagan to bring down the Soviet Union). But her silly belief that the financial and services industry could replace manufacturing was misplaced and her liberalisation of the financial markets in 1986 was a direct precursor to what has happened in the last 5 years.
But (and there's always a but) she understood the issues of her time, and knew what were the enemies to slay. None of today's politicians seem to have half a clue.Speaking gibberish on internet talkboards since last Michaelmas. Plus here on TwitterComment
