That is above the average and you can have a very comfortable lifestyle considering switzerland is very expensive.

      The things to consider are:

Private Health insurance is mandatory (is it included in the package?)
If family with kids (have to consider the international schools) if looking for english speaking + local language being high german as the ave cost per kid is CHF 20k per annum
If moving permanently then relocation costs need to be considered?

As it is on the border you can consider living in France or Germany (most of the brits congregate in France) tends be more green with lots of space

      Downside:
      Much quieter than blighty
      No proper fish and chips
Swiss are a bit distance so most expats stick together

Otherwise a great place to be if your with family, would be a bit boring eventually if singleton

        CHF gross.

Aye medical and relocation taken care of.
I've been in Basle in the late 90s. Would probably live in Mulhouse if I was going.
i thought education would be expensive, but no more than here and would be worth it if the sprog could speak another language or two.

You've been there and still can't even spell the place?

Why would anyone pay that sort of mullah for an illiterate numpty?

Don't think its worth my while with the cushy number I have now, just curious.
I make that roughly GBP 154K. Be careful what the Swiss mean by "gross" because that is the term they used for the figure I understood as net when I was first considering coming here.

I had a pleasant surprise out of that misunderstanding

Be careful on the accommodation front though, as if you pick somewhere too fancy you can waste a lot of that income without even trying.

That's the big one for me. I was discussing this over lunch with an expat who has a 23 year old daughter brought up here. I have met her and she is not only totally bilingual but has inherited a decent sense of humour from her British father. It isn't just the standard of education; the kids here can travel to school by bus (his brother and sister in law in the UK ferry their kids to and from school every day), and can go off on their own to sporting and other outdoor activities, feeling perfectly safe.

I would definitely recommend state schools rather than the expensive international schools. A side advantage is that you don't have to deal with the rich mums/moms who send their kids to those schools.

That's the biggest difference I found moving here from the UK.
                  • no more need to live out of a suitcase at a moment's notice
                  • no more need to slog it up and down motorways or do a lengthy train commute
                  • the trains and buses run on time (usually)
                  • if they want you to work overtime they will give you advance notice, and there's none of this crap about "Not having enough commitment" if you say you already have other plans for tonight or the weekend
                  • even permies get paid overtime
