It's a longterm gig though - you'd fall foul of the 2 year rule right from the outset.

That involved serious petrol miles and hotel accomodation that would have dropped the rate to an equivalent of £150 a day for a PM role that involved driving between two sites constantly, located 250 miles apart, and smelled badly of not only doing the PM work but also getting hands on with the coding, writing the SIT test cases, writing the UAT test cases, doing the testing and shoving a broom up my arse so I can sweep up while I walk along.

I don't mind working flat out and bailing out a ****ed project, but not for £150 a day.

        Im sure you know this.
and Im sure you mean this above

        but, just in case....

It's the profit per hour, not the actual rate that matters.
a high cost /high rate gig may not be a good gig

apologies if this is understood and implied

Do you phone the agent up after submitting the application?
While it is debatable whether this will help you get the role (I think it does help) it will be invaluable to finding out how they are perceiving your CV.
Wait for them to say "But your last role was not a BA role therefore you're not a BA", and then you'll know they're dumbasses, and it's time to make "constructive" changes to the CV hrr hmm..

Well OK you already know agents are all dumbasses..

250 miles a week - £60 in Petrol. Charge own Ltd 45 per mile £135 back. B&B £35 a night for four nights or cheap Travel Lodge deal, after VAT £28 per night. Subsistence £10 a day, £8 after VAT. Not knocking the missus up again because your working away from home. Priceless.

Apology accepted. If the rate is swamped by 50% costs, and the hours per day is capped at 8 then it's not a good gig. Plus it smelled bad. I did create a thread on the topic of what phrases / indicators makes a gig smell bad, and arguably this was one of the less me-me-me, possibly actually a viable thread, thread I have ever created, but since it was created during the Kryten debacle it was slammed by the CUK LikelyToGetMeBanned ™ brand

This more "aggressive" form of marketing was in my repertoire some years back but I forgot it. Thanks so much for the reminder
                I will be more proactive.

Fantastic, so I only have to get there then! Phew, I though I needed to do several 160 mile round trips per day, plus a couple of 300 mile round trips.

Seriously looking at 1000 miles per week plus. Plus working not solely as a PM, but dancing like a biatch to the beat of anyone's drum. I'd rather go bust, seriously.
