    The young guy will benefit from being in that environment. Maybe his plan was to take him but not play him...thus introducing him to the England team slowly.

      or should that be a slow england team?

      he could have got the expeirence staying at home playing his xbox - hed have probably won the world cup with his team. By introducing and not playing theo sven wasted a slot in his squad and probably disenchanted the young player, why not let him play one of the preli, games? One of the games you actually won?
      What better way to get a youngster interested in continuing and striving for a place than to get a cap - not sat on the side line like a lemon for a loosing team.
