Lucky in that i don't need to worry about chasing into the next contract i know there are people on here who have been benched for 12 months but i can turn my hand to other things besides IT and have contacts in other industries so would be going doing somthing else if i got close to 12 months

But unlucky in that, unless you have a separate warchest and retirement fund, you have basically no preparations in place to retire.

Lol no. As I'm sure I posted before, like most people I had two grandmothers. One had a generous pension, one had made no provision for her retirement at all. They lived very similar lives as this is how the benefit system works, the one who provided for herself got very little from the state, the one who hadnt got everything provided for free and generous benefits to top her income up.

The message is clear to me. Why pay very high tax rates to pay for others to live a nice life, AND try and save up so you can have a nice life in retirement. Its one or the other in mind.
