So gays should not be allowed in the military?

This seems to be a double edged sword on one hand they're very accepting of lesbians and on the other not so tolerant of gays which I think is wrong. Most of the squaddies I have encounter seem to be very homophobic but I haven't met them all.

Was she too thick or not fit enough? I guess her training was adapted so she could work specifically on the 800 metres perhaps at the cost of really long endurance work that soldiers do, but you're not going to tell me that an olympic gold winning middle distance runner wouldn't be able to meet the standards given the same training as men.

She didn't meet the physical standard to be a PTI, a fact that really irks the whole corp but was given a pass because of her standing as an athlete

Yep, so basically she was good at running 800m, but not at the other things. Still suggests to me that her body was trainable enough to achieve the standard if she needed too.

can't see why we don't put females into a tinderbox and a dangerous situation where they evoke more emotional ties than your best freinds.

Can't see how it could go wrong?
Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.

Yep, that's the bit that worries me as opposed to the physical aspects.

                      Its an interesting debate.

My ex is a marine and I asked him about this once as they do serve on the front line with women (in medic positions for example). His response was he has served with women who physically can run rings around the men - fitness and strength wise. But, and the big but, his experience of serving along side women is it distracted the combat roles when they came under fire. Automatically (some) men would jump to protect - as an instinct, distracting from the commands and routines they are trained to perform when under fire. Its a distraction, and a very hard instinctive response to retrain/switch off. They do drills and training exercises along side women, but still in the situation when deployed something else kicks in....

And yes they do poop in bags while they're mate holds it. They then have to carry it around with them
