Anyone know anything about cars?

I used to enjoy turning up for highly paid contracts in my mum's cast off 1.2 Corsa, I have since traded up to Cavaliers, and then Vectras, the perfect cheapskate contractor car that you can park in even the dodgiest B&B car park and not worry a jot. I had a dabble with a Mondeo but I found that a bit too risque.Last edited by rootsnall; 11 January 2013, 10:37. -
That's very unfair and irrational. I have visited Indian restaurants twice in my life; one in New Delhi which gave me Amoebic Dyssentry and Giardia, and one in Dar es Salaam which gave me Cryptosporidium. What am I to think of Indians?Originally posted by zeitghostMe too, since one tried to kill me.

If I had to put these in order, I would go:Originally posted by DimPrawn View PostWhat's your criteria for best?
Do you need 7 seats or will 5 do?
What's important?
Space?
Sporty drive?
Fuel economy?
Reliability?
Cheap to service and repair?
Comfort and luxury?

So the options seem to be a Scenic, Vauxhall Zafira or Volvo XC70 or V70.
Does it just come down to personal taste from there or is one noticably better than the others?
When she was 18 and less than 9 stone my wife paid her way through uni by working as a bouncer in Reading. She has also once beaten the tulipe out of a guy who tried to rape her at knife point to the point where he ran, she chased him and brought him down again before he eventually managed to out run her.Originally posted by Mich the TesterHave you asked her what colour she wants?
Therefore I am careful only to patronise her from a safe distance ... which would be Mars.Comment

A blue one then, possibly a black one, but definitely not pink. Good luck!Originally posted by MyUserName View Post

If you can live with 5 seats, one of these:
Used Citroen C4 Picasso 2.0Hdi 16V Vtr Plus 5Dr Egs ... for sale - PistonHeads (Ref 983632)
Cheap and modern.
If you need seven seats, one of these:
Used RENAULT GRAND ESPACE INITIALE 3.0 DCI FULLY SPECED for sale - PistonHeads (Ref 943657)
3.0 DCI diesel is what you need with one of these big boys.Comment

Judging by his account, his wife's quite a big boy.Originally posted by DimPrawn View Post

IMHO, you need something within 5 years old. Walk away from any Renault Espace over 3 years old, and any scenic pre 2004 I'd say; the electrics were an issue.
If you go for an ex-mobility car, they're less likely to have been caned.
Zafiras are Vauxhalls, and are a bit basic, Renault Scenics have a bit more kit, and boxes and storage places everywhere. If the Zafira wasn't a Vauxhall, I think they'd be fine.
One other thing to note, is early C4 picassos, weren't renowned for their build quality. The Picasso itself, is a bargain, and 5k should pick you up a recent one without too many miles.
£5k limits the choice really, if you want a newish car, which I would.Comment
