Elite II or whatever it was called was a huge disappointment, not sure about the latest iteration and why would I want it to be multi-player in a constantly evolving open ended universe?

If it's any good I'll buy it but I'm not going to contribute to it, Braben has a poor track record of delivery.

As an individual contributor Braben produced one of the games of the 80s. So did Singleton.

As the lead on a commercially successful followup after the horrendous buggy Elite 2, and in the way that he has sought to raise funds then I am more than sceptable.

In theory Elite should be the ultimate space faring game on New Consoles but to do it justice would require considerably more than 1.5M and for that reason. I'm out.

Yep, it needs the Skyrim / WoW treatment, although Elite is the original action/trading/progression sandbox game from which both of those games derive - along with many others.

The guy who did Privateer and Wing Commander has raised over $7 million on Kick Starter and via other venture capital routes for his new game Star Citizen.

I think though its a little too ambitious thoough - its meant to have a single player game like Wing Commander as the starting point and when you complete that (or you can skip it) it throws you into an online multi-player game.
