Quite reassuring to know that heathrow security are doing their job. Though IMO they should have prosecuted.
I took a nail-kit in my hand-luggage, by accident, on a long haul journey about four years ago.
Security at Heathrow did not notice it.
I changed planes in Hong Kong, their security did notice it.
The lady was very apologetic for taking it from me, but she did take it (the scissors, she didn't worry about the rest of it), then she let me carry on without any further fuss.
Your idiot partner could be a closet plane hijacker who loves stabbing random people in a plane. Why would I want him on my plane with a knife in his handbag ? The security did their job and IMO they should have put in a cell for a few days and given the third degree. You have some nerve coming on here and complaining when you should be directing your annoyance at your stupid BF.

HTH BISDI
But a closet hijacker would not have voluntarily declared the knife at security as the OP's friend did.
Had security found the knife during the scan it would have been another matter.

Thanks for pointing that out.
I was just about to do the same but not so politely to fully automatix who is obviously a knee jerk reactionary who cannot read.
