from what I have heard it's very competitive out there... makes me kinda nervous about my move I have to admit."Well behaved women rarely make history"

No...I was searching the normal .co.uk site....and keep getting stupid numbers of roles in Oz...as well as the UK...Originally posted by BlasterBates...so hang on a mo, have I got this right.
you accidentally clicked on AUS in Jobserve, and a result of that you're going to emigrate ?
Wouldn't it be easier to click the UK box instead ?
...or am I missing something.
As a contrator I have worked abroad (Europe) and have no issue with doing that again. And if there is lots of sunshine involved the better! Thats why I sort of gave it some thought...
Not sure about the rates though....I had heard that they are not brilliant (as per the post above)....Comment

Yeah...I've had a look at that and I would get the 120 points with little difficulty. (I love it that hair dressers get 40 points and IT managers 60!)Originally posted by janeythere are plenty of web sites that can give you all the information on the various types of visas. Most migration agent web sites have a free points assessment questionaire so you can see if you have enough points to get in without sponsorship... you currently have to get 120 points to be able to apply... which I have

Congrates btw!
One of my staff from my old job is moving out there as well...but thats due to marriage...seems to be quite a few people making that move...Comment

I've had a sucessful skills assessment, I'm now just waiting for my probationary period to finish at my new job (yes I'm a permie) before sending off my visa application since there is a very real popssiblity of the immigration people ringing your employer which perhaps wouldn't look great whilst I was still on probation!Originally posted by NickITYeah...I've had a look at that and I would get the 120 points with little difficulty. mind you not good either right after finishing your probation! However find that if you are fair about it with your employer they can be ok about it (of course this is dependent on the company, you and the role etc...so sometimes it can go horribly pear shaped).Comment

well it can take up to a year to process teh application apparently so they wouldn't be getting any phone calls immediately after my probation... and even if they did, what can they do?! sack me for exploring my options?! ooo if only they would then I could take them to court and get a nice big pay out!!! would come in handy for the emmigration fundsOriginally posted by NickITYeah...not good that! Yeah they would not sack you....just move you in a 'strategic resource positioning re-organisation' .....Comment

What puzzles me is if Australia (and NZ) is so much better than the UK, what are all these Aussies (and Kiwis) doing over here, and why do so many of them stay.
I'm alright JackComment

Obvious really
They're both bigg(ish) countries but they're not overpopulated in the same way as the UK, therefore there are only so many barstaff required in Aus/NZ, so they have to come over here for the work.Originally posted by BlasterBatesWhat puzzles me is if Australia (and NZ) is so much better than the UK, what are all these Aussies (and Kiwis) doing over here, and why do so many of them stay.
