He made a genuine mistake some time back, and has now sadly lost his MPS clearance as a result.
Really though, this has to be seen as a blessing in disguise. The MPS is a fairly boring place to work, the canteen is rubbish, and the toilets are worse. I also have no doubt the OP will have little problem finding a newer/better contract elsewhere.
