Only been contracting just over a year now but it beats the tulip out of being a permie and to top it off I have more free time now than I ever did working as permie.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to BrilloPad again.

Contracting 6 years - total bench time 2 months.

Not sure is that good or does that make me a (knackered) mug?

If you gave up all those expensive sports events you could take some time off.

Spend the time knitting instead and you will save money on clothes too.

Or even better - marry on of those rich eye candy types you row with.

I'm a 'contractor' working in a permanent job because it suits. If it doesn't suit I'll quit, just like all the other contracts I've done.

Yep, that's my attitude. If it goes well, I'll stay, if it doesn't then I have some very good contacts with whom I can go contracting again in a co-operative. The permie job is a contract, but with a different form of payment. Maybe now I can take all the permie nonsense with a pinch of salt and laugh it all off.

Yep thats all we are good for knitting and getting married .... but then I'd end up watching loose women and listening to LBC and get angry at the world - the ignorance of the banking bubble

Permie, and not in the UK either. I'll start contracting again when either I have contacts and a decent reputation, or the contract market takes off again and those become less important.

Having said that, I despise my current permie environment so much I am not likely to walk out of it with a decent reputation.

It was the last day to sign up for the company's Christmas party today. They do put on a lavish bash but the last thing I want to do is spend my Friday night socialising with the ***** that I have to work with.
