Had a telephone one at 8:30 for 20 minutes this morning for a long term contract in Frankfurt. They've already asked for a photo for my security pass and are epxecting me to start in December for 1 day a week and then start properly in January. Haven't discussed full details yet nor seen a contract!

On my way in now. It's with media types though. A colleague of mine in the last gig warned me about them.

Anyone work in media? My last two gigs were in media and the last one was ok, the one before took its toll.

What specifically is it about media types that worries folks?

I'm working 'in meedjah' right now (TV). It's OK, good crowd of techies, but the permies are all hypersensitive incestuous political gossipers, so I know I'll get stabbed in the back before long.

I've been warned by the guys here to not be in the same room alone as one particular woman from clientco's main customer as she has a reputation for putting in unproven accusations of sexual harassment if she doesn't happen to like someone. She's a bit, erm, emotionally unstable.

Why? I currently do 3-4 days a week and told them that I could come in for a day a week for 'einarbeitung.' In other words I can get my laptop, user accounts, all the paperwork sorted out and familiarise myself with their systems in advance and not spend the first week faffing about (and still get paid for it.) I've done this before with no problems and clients quite appreciate it that when you do come in properly you can get stuck in straightaway.

I wasn't comfortable the interviewers knew what they were asking so it was difficult to gauge what they wanted to hear.

Came away with an odd feeling.
