Big data and Hadoop
Given the 1.2tb of data I currently have online, the 15gb we add daily , the sub second reporting we offer and the curated method we are applying to reporting I think i know a little bit about what I'm talking about.
The issue with all data systems is garbage in leads to garbage out. By managing what we collect we don't have that issue so we don't need looney mathematically geniuses.
Oh and I have far more customers lined up than I can manage. So I'm upping the prices continually to try and scare some away. It's not working but it's looking stupidly, scarily profitable

"Big data" isn't really a buzzword - only insofar as it refers to the vast and growing amounts of data being generated by everything and everyone.Originally posted by SimonMac View PostWhy do people deride "buzzwords", as contractors isn't a key part of income generation potential helping companies jump on the latest band wagon.
But personally I wouldn't get into the changeable technolgies for managing the scale and volume of this data.
Far better to train in stats, there's in inbuilt barrier to entry, as most people can't do maths.Hard Brexit now!

So you just generate bog standard reports: no discriminant or factor analyses, multivariate analysis, various form of regressions, other modelling etc etc etc.?Originally posted by eek View PostGiven the 1.2tb of data I currently have online, the 15gb we add daily , the sub second reporting we offer and the curated method we are applying to reporting I think i know a little bit about what I'm talking about.

You don't really know what you are talking about in that case - you're not using your data to its maximum advantage.Hard Brexit now!

I don't think pron sites really need that level of sophistication.Originally posted by sasguru View Postno discriminant or factor analyses, multivariate analysis, various form of regressions, other modelling etc etc etc.And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Are you a customer? I don't remember seeing any burnt out retirees who couldn't hack it being in the customer list.Originally posted by sasguru View PostSo you just generate bog standard reports: no discriminant or factor analyses, multivariate analysis, various form of regressions, other modelling etc etc etc.?

And unless you are a customer how can you know what we actually offer?merely at clientco for the entertainmentComment

Fine. I'll assume you're doing sophisticated stats analyses/data mining then.Originally posted by eek View PostAre you a customer? I don't remember seeing any burnt out retirees who couldn't hack it being in the customer list.
