WHS. It doesn't matter how fast your car is, there will be something faster coming up behind.

A colleague reported that he had a standing start race in his M5 with an RS4. He won off the start because those Audis suffered from turbo lag, They went all the way up to the rev limiters, and that's when the Audi managed to pull back and overtake.

Me? 120 mph in both an Audi 80 (the 5 cylinder one) and a Merc 190E. At that speed even on an empty road you soon catch up with slower stuff so it's hard to sustain.

I also managed 100 mph in third gear in an Audi. That one could supposedly do 145 or so, but I didn't find a bit of Autobahn clear enough on the few occasions I tried.

So what do you do on the unrestricted stretched of autobahn? Or aren't you allowed out of the UK?

I did do 185kph (115mph) in a 2.0l diesel Peugeot 205... and blew the turbo.

My first car was a Fiesta 950 popular plus. I could get it to 93, foot jammed to the floor, going down the long hill on the M25 towards Kent. It would shake like it was falling apart - you knew you were going fast. I then borrowed a pool car from work - can't remember what it was - but was cruising along at what felt like a moderate pace. Glanced at speedo and was doing 110. Apart from that, have never knowingly driven over 100, and nowadays usually slow down after I've hit 85.

125mph Ford Focus 2.0l (10 year old Estate model)

It was on the autobahn & there were 5 people in the car & a shed load of camping gear, oh and 11 pairs of new rocks

I had to slow down as it was BGG’s car & he was giving me those “what are you doing to my car” looks

                Well done

I don't think I ever got over 100mph as it's far too busy.

Speaking of busy, it was busy one day last week. Cop car was in the fast lane - it's funny how everyone slows down when they see a cop car. But cop car also can't do too fast because he's meant to be setting an example!!

Anyway, in the end he got pissed off with other drivers slowing him down to 70mph, and sped up to about 95mph - which i matched behind him. WTF could he say/do?! He didn't have his blue lights on so technically he's breaking the law too
