Scots and the age of majority

Somebody pointed out something today that had not occurred to me. Without the Scots and their lefty tendencies we are far more likely to get Conservative majorities in what's left of the UK. Hurrah, go Scots!!! Vote YES!!!!
Frankly, unless controlling their own affairs inspires them in some major way, independence will be a disaster for them. A low yield, high welfare economy propped up by an unreasonable allocation of UK wealth, with crime and drug taking that even makes parts of London look good. Unlikely to join the EU, given recent events, they will have to be part of Stirling area with no corresponding say over policy. I strongly suspect they will vote no but if they vote yes, a very rude awakening will come.bloggoth

I don't think 16-year-olds should be deliberating the fate of a nation. Perspective comes with age.Comment

I'm all for independent nations. Smaller and more agile economies.

Caught this being discussed on R4 yesterday while driving down to Brizzle and the Scottish 16 and 17 year olds being interviewed were actually all coming up with pretty astute insights into what was going on & quite refreshing to hear as I'd seen this as a ploy by the SNP- not sure how representative of the Scottish yoof the sample was though.
Anyway will be interesting to see how having franchised them for this vote but not for upcoming EMP or Local elections plays outHow fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't thinkComment
