If we're doing classics, how about High Noon?

Incidentally it shows how to make a sountrack work if you don't have a whole soundtrack album to fill up.

Watched Prometheus a couple of nights ago - despite a few mates telling me it was rubbish I really enjoyed it!

Another vote for Delicatessen, wicked film!

So, what would be your "what? You never seen it, then you have to watch it" movie recommendation.

My 3 suggestions to others would be

              Memento
              Crash
              Life is beautiful
I watched The Big Lebowski recently after someone recommended it. I found it really boring, and didn't 'get' it. But then, I don't 'get' most movies these days, even ones from back in the 90s (when I used to enjoy films) like TBL.

I'm not sure if it's a feature of having reached an age where movies/TV simply hold less appeal, or whether the internet's just come along in the past 10-15 years, replacing one-way mediums like film as the timewaster of choice for my generation. Whatever the reason, I find my brain just isn't wired to enjoy most movies/TV now.

That said, my one recommendation, if you've never seen it, would be The Usual Suspects. I haven't seen it in years, but I still remember it as a great film that I enjoyed first time around. Oh, and, Daniel Craig's debut in the 2006 version of Casino Royale: the only Bond film I've ever enjoyed, because he was such a good actor and it relied less on flashy gadgets and scantily-dressed women, and more on action and narrative.

The Time Traveller's Wife (surprisingly good, nice for a night in with your partner)
The Illusionist (far superior to the Prestige IMHO)
                  American Beauty

too many others I'd like to list, but I'll stick with these 3

                    Pan's Labyrinth
That Nazi/Peasant bottle/face interface makes me feel queezy everytime i see it

a couple of recommendations from me would be
                    1) A Room For Romeo Brass (Shane Meadows)
                    2) Gone Baby Gone

Shame. It's a GREAT movie! And very funny IMO. The coffee tin moment?
