    Great plan!
And your "great plan" is to hang on to this dead weight, despite the fact that by your own calculations it is likely to become an ongoing financial millstone? Even better.

Worry not. I intend staying down here in the balmy south come what may.
I see it as a form of Missionary work..............

Besides the gene pool down here often needs a bit of a stir.

Scotland is the one that will become a millstone, because it's economy is dependent on oil, which will one day run out. The rest of the UK's economy isn't dependent on oil.

Not sure what is so hard to understand.

Plenty of small countries in the world doing very well for themselves without any Oil Revenue. Many of them with workforces that are nowhere close to the skill levels of that the schools and universities in Scotland produce annually.

You really ought to try reading a bit more.

And there are also plenty of small countries that are not doing so well for themselves, and when the oil goes, Scotland will be one of those countries.

              In your rather skewed opinion.
They seemed to manage quite well before the Oil came along..........................so history seems to be on my side.

Scotland was doing well before oil because it was part of the UK.

There's no point Scotland spending taxpayer's money on education. No business will want to set up in a small country on the periphery of Europe with enormous taxes. They'll just move to London and England will cream off the best talent from Scotland.

So Scotland will simply set itself up as a tax haven..........a la Guernsey/IOM/Jersey etc.
And offer huge tax breaks to International Companies that wish to invest there.

                      Sorted!!
