Didn't fail, waited the 4 years for residency and came back as soon as I got it. Go back occasionally as it's ace for a holiday, and I still have friends there. I would go back in a flash, for holidays. Too far away to live, no culture, no intellect and too full of smug pricks like you.

As for tulip summers, I was at my house in France in july and august and, I can assure you, it was better than Australia as I was actually able to go out all day long and enjoy it.
