It was only last year that ITV aired a documentary about links between Gadaffi (or however he's spelt this week) and Irish nationalists that included footage of a PIRA unit shooting down a British Army helicopter in 1988. Turned out it was taken from the 2009 game ARMA 2

Remember all those videos of missiles successfully finding the air ducts on buildings that CNN showed incessantly during the ousting of Saddam's forces from Kuwait?

Something always struck me as wrong there. Some years later I told a Yank that I thought they were arms manufacturers' promotional videos, and his answer was "Yes, I have some of those in my office."

The CIA made a film showing the consequences of Bin Laden getting hold of a nuclear bomb. The film included a TV clip of Bin Laden claiming he was responsible for detonating the nuclear bomb. When a Belgian MP pointed out that this just showed how good the CIA was at faking Bin Laden videos, the film was withdrawn.
