      I don't agree - I know very few people in this position who feel good about not working.

      Some of the people who hold these views should try being unemployed with your livelyhood sold down the river by a "GDP" government.

      Actually, with the ICT and outsourcing of the DVLA etc, maybe you'll get your chance - but then at least you'll have years of earnings to support you. Unlike some peeps who dont get a job from Birth till 25 cos there's simply sod all there; and have grandparents who were the last to work as miners or shipbuilders, or any of the other industries we've decimated in the name of the city and GDP increases.

          That may be true in the North, but its not true in London and the SE.
          There's work here if you want it. It might not be great work, but work there is.

            The assumption here is everyone you saw in Tescos is on the fiddle. Many will be shift workers, on holiday, self employed, part time, on some sort of flexible working or possibly sharing parenting duties while the OH works.
