Reminds me of this, my brother was working refurbing the shop next door. Story was the (Asian) owner of the house (flats) wanted to extend into the loft, planning permission refused so he went down into and excavated a cellar, no footings or owt. Next big rain the whole lot slid into the new 'cellar'.
