But won't you always have the feeling that people will think that you bought the Polo cause you could afford a Golf? Its the age old Porsche problem, no matter how good the Boxster is the only reason you buy one is because you can't afford a 911!

Do people who bought a Golf worry that people think they couldn't afford a Passat? Or that they couldn't afford an Audi? As you get a bit older you realise that people dont give a moments thought to what you do, they are far too busy worrying about themselves. I come from a family where my father had several Jaguars, Mercedes and classic MGs. But we hardly ever had the heating on as it was "a waste of money" what would people think. I know what I thought, I was bloody freezing.

The Polo looks great, I love the idea of a sporty automatic that will make the constant red light driving of commuting bearable, still have a bit of omfff on the motorway and get 48 mpg in petrol!

You are right there. Ive been using the internet long enough to realise you are just a sad old man with nothing going on in his life, who feels a little alive if he can get someone to argue with him. So I'll just agree with you, and deprive you of what little enjoyment left to you in these last few years.

It would be a sad forum if everyone kept ones opinion to oneself. However there is a difference between expressing an opinion and trying to convince someone else of it. I dont feel the need to convince a stranger on the internet of anything, what would be the point of that?
