I came across some of the upper classes at Uni who could have been dangerous.

But I also came across foreigners who were really nice and well regarded in the UK, but changed personalities when in their own country.

I've done that, but phrased it a little more diplomatically:

        "This code is crap because..."

Had one brave chap retort with "Well it works". When I told him a few of the ways it could fail in the future, he simply said "We'll fix it when it fails".

We whipped a few privileges away from him after that.

Their loss. FWIW, my last interview was crap and I got the gig, so sometimes not as bad as you fear.

Same here and sometimes I think I've done really well at an interview and it doesn't go anywhere.

You're missing through point. Russell is a charmless temp receptionist who has illusions that he is a contractor. So I'm guessing the companies themselves must have been nice places.
