I came across some of the upper classes at Uni who could have been dangerous.Originally posted by Mich the Tester View PostYou might be right about exposure to turd world dictators at an early age. The only ones I knew at public school were the Kaunda boys of Kenneth Kaunda's family, who were really very nice guys, plus a few utterly revolting British aristocrats who'd be dangerous in charge of a chip shop, never mind an embassy or an army regiment.
But I also came across foreigners who were really nice and well regarded in the UK, but changed personalities when in their own country.Behold the warranty -- the bold print giveth and the fine print taketh away.Comment

I've done that, but phrased it a little more diplomatically:Originally posted by bless 'em all View Post"How would you tell a developer his code is crap?"
"This code is crap because..."
Had one brave chap retort with "Well it works". When I told him a few of the ways it could fail in the future, he simply said "We'll fix it when it fails".
We whipped a few privileges away from him after that.Behold the warranty -- the bold print giveth and the fine print taketh away.Comment

Never mind, keep looking.
Their loss. FWIW, my last interview was crap and I got the gig, so sometimes not as bad as you fear.Comment

Same here and sometimes I think I've done really well at an interview and it doesn't go anywhere.Originally posted by k2p2 View Post^ This

You're missing through point. Russell is a charmless temp receptionist who has illusions that he is a contractor. So I'm guessing the companies themselves must have been nice places.Originally posted by escapeUK View PostIve worked in some really evil places where the receptionists were super nice. So the test is meaningless.Comment
