    I really don't know.

    Have you asked him?

You could be right. In which case he is being hypocritical.

If I were him I'd duke it out with "Call Me Dave".

... which is perfectly legal and therefore not your business.

            Exactly.

Paying 50% is better than paying 0% on no earnings in the future.

There is a whole range of 'comedians' that do shows round the country to packed houses on nothing more than jokes about p0ofs, d4rkies and p4kies. That arse Chubby Brown for example.

Being a racist looks to be acceptable in the 'court of public opinion' compared to tax management arrangements which Carr is getting vilified for.

One is freedom of speech which should be protected and "tax avoidance" like this case should be classed as tax evasion with appropriate punishments.

You obviously don't know how bad the racist routines which some of these comedians punt out to feverishly supportive audiences. Audiences which probably mostly condemn tax avoidance.

It's true I don't know how bad they get, it's not something I give a tulip about - there is a big difference however between freedom of speech which is essential to keep democracy healthy and "freedom" not to pay taxes at levels everybody else pays - that would destroy state so it's only right for the state to take action with extreme prejudice against such cases.

What Carr should have been taught in school is that in the unlikely event that he makes a lot more money than everybody else he should always remember that 10 years in jail for tax evasion and 0 tax on 0 earnings is much worse deal than paying whatever the high rate of tax is in the day.

This is the point you miss, tax on money moved between individuals and companies is varied to a highly complex and variable level.

Carr has simply used a system to his benefit to move his money to his advantage which is not illegal.

I think the chap is a throbber to be honest, these tax systems are not ones that I have used but to pluck him out of his group to be painted as a villian when others are blatently racist is farcical.
