Update
The police said that they had no clues and shut the case four weeks later. Friend's wife is still too terrified to go back so it looks that they will have to move house. After doing some amateur investigation it transpires that another house was burgled six weeks prior, again the same thief was suspected and in fact one stolen item from found in the perpetrator's dustbin. Again, the police took no action.
A local mechanic knew of the thief due to the thief's reputation of being a small time drug dealer and police informer. It was now obvious why the police did not want to do anything. The same day that a complaint was made to the police, thief and friends moved out within hours."A people that elect corrupt politicians, imposters, thieves and traitors are not victims, but accomplices," George OrwellComment

You have to understand there's more bonus in dealing with drug dealers than burglary. I'm sure if the higher up drug criminals were aware of the snitchy burglar, they'd be happy to take action on your friends behalf.Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!Comment
