Surely each time there is a bailout it helps the Germans. If the countries were using separate currencies the German Mark would have a too higher value and thus hinder German exports. By being in the euro zone, Germany can take advantage of a weaker currency at the detriment of countries like Spain and Greece whose economies suffer because they use the euro currency being a higher value that what a national currency would be.

The whole things is such a mess and so confusing I wouldn't be surprised to hear that most politicians don't even have a clue what is going on......

Local labour costs are priced in local currency - if it's too weak it can cause inflation in cases when country depends on imports, like UK.

So the kids & I are up to series 3 of star wars the clone wars animated tv show. In one episode the republic is going bankrupt because of the war, and the senate is arguing about opening up more lines of credit by deregulating the banks.

Seriously. I feel sorry for the 3 year old who is forced to go an play with his lego instead of watching this tripe.

Padme Amidala makes an impassioned plea to divert funds away from the war to the people of the republic who are suffering without basic access to water & power.

Of course this is all being engineered by the Chancellor who is a Sith lord anyway.

Well, we all know how this story ends. Can anyone see any parallels with the situation in Europe?

              Thought not.
              Keeping calm. Keeping invoicing.

The Germans have been doing this for ten years, and have done very well out of it.

But for every winner there must be a loser, and it is a significant part of why the PIIGS economies are where they are today.
