How much totty was there among the crowds?

But at that age I would have preferred working outside to spending that amount of time working in a shop or Maccie D's.

Probably still would given the levels of pay offered.

            a) because evicting strikers would have been extremely bad publicity, back to the Victorian era etc
            b) old fashioned tenancy agreements which made it difficult to evict tenants

Styles junior has smarmed himself into a paid job on security at the Olympics during the school holidays. I'll warn him to steer clear of the totty.

I don't know enough details. Coal Board probably, but failing that the social services.

But you are missing the point. It was more about discouraging you to go on strike than about taxpayers' money. An awful lot of taxpayers' money was blown on paying the police the kind of overtime that gave them holiday villas in Spain. Oh, and keeping an oil fired power station on standby at great cost.

The danger is that he ends up patrolling the car park and seeing nothing but cars, rather than Olympic events.

He probably hopes so, that's easy money. However he's had to go on training courses, take exams and get through panel interviews, so the smug sod might have to do some proper work!
