I worked with a very successful trader who told me he lived in Luton. I was shocked!

Turned out he had some huge manor house near the airport. Most Friday nights he would hire a corporate jet (most are only used mid week) and fly off somewhere with the family. Park it up for the weekend and fly back Sunday night. Great life.

There is a lot to be said for having a good house in a shit: area, there is a lot to be said for having a shit: house in good area.

Post war Britian got egalitarian and built a lot of tulip houses in good areas and consequently you are never that far from a shit: area no matter how much you spend on a good house (unless you are one of the Barclay brothers).
