I did a six monther in an old stately home near Milton Keynes. The two permie guys I worked with were a great laugh and they used to host 'command and conquer' parties a couple of times a week. One of them was teetotal, so he used to get me p1ssed so he could win, then he would ferry me back home with a kebab on the way

The deer used to jump the perimeter fence and come wandering up to my window to look over my shoulder (code inspection) and nibble the roses.

Not for me. I'm not keen on travelling but I'd rather be where it's at, among real people. The odd day a week at home is OK though.

Microsoft in Thames Valley Park was a nice place to work. Anyone else here worked there?

Spending quite a bit of time in their Victoria office at the moment, thats pretty decent, x-boxes everywhere + free soft/hot drinks
Politicians are wonderfull people, as long as they stay away from things they don't understand, like working for a living!

I used to work with a guy that kept a sleeping bag under the floor tiles. Said the noise helped him sleep !

also worked in a data center, where my shift mate around midnight pulled out the camp bed from behind the console decks, turned bridge into darkness and had about 5hrs sleep just before shift handover!!!

that didn't last long, Data Center Manager strolled uninterupted through all the external perimeter and building access gates which were open, into the bridge to find them all asleep inc security guard with the alarms going as the 2nd backup power supply was failing!!!!

Damn good timing to be on another shift that evening!!

Used to work as permie once for a small company - just 10 of us. We all used to work for the same large company in the past and this one fella has set up on his own.

It was great, pretty much like working with your mates all day. If things went down with the customer we'd sort it out but then when it wasnt busy we used to play games on the LAN all day long. Great fun.

                    Unfortunately, company didnt last.
