Throw the words Regulatory and Compliance about as much as you can. Alternatively use the old Accidenture trick of completely fabricating the business case - by the time anyone finds out you'll have had your money and been long gone.

in the .Net world we burn that on a Monday morning before we've got out of bed !

in the .Net world a respectable project size is a burn of $500,000,000 / year

.Net projects don't get cancelled, they can't, they're like toxic banks, too big to fail

to cancel a .Net project the c level executives would be admitting huge failure and their heads would have to roll, obviously they wouldn't let that happen and consequently .Net projects just roll on and on and on

      that's why we love's 'em

      Milan.
.Net is chosen for being cheap - WTF are you spending 500M on? Infact what projects apart from NASA and anything that's military is spending 500M in total, never mind per year.

Integrating Lloyds with HBOS may have cost more (not per year) and there was the square root of FA .Net involved.

I think you're talking pish but I'm willing to be proven wrong....

.Net to me, local dev shop or if big offshore much cheapness not massive enterprise projects. Even ERP projects don't have that burn rate.
