I've not heard that term used but I have seen people discussing such methods as a way to get GPGPU functionality on older hardware... I believed this kind of hacky approach was the birthplace of proper things like CUDA but I might be totally wrong, although I would love it to be true for the nerdy brilliance of the idea. "Hey we need to process 65million records at a time... I know, stick the input values into a 8192x8192 floating-point texture and write a pixel shader to do the math on every input in a single pass".

Probably an over simplification but I bet that's how "they" started.

Bit off topic but I fancy one of these. A colleague in the US has one and gives it 10/10.

            Oh dear...

Does that mean we're not going to complete our current project on the Pi?

              Please PM if interested.

Nope, as such I've decided to keep it when it arrives and buy another.

Henceforth I shall refer to my Raspberry Pi(s) as "Huey, Dewie and Lewie" and "Silent_Running" will be the name of the cluster/domain.

Currently "Huey" is a little lonely but I'm keeping him occupied by getting him to play chess against himself via the LAN and Wireless network.

and now which case to order?

                      the current favourite is:

                      the clear one

although red and white is also not bad
