as stated according to industry estimates there are 25 billion barrels of oil still to be extracted

BBC News - UK Oil and gas reserves higher than thought

the tourism figure for norway is pretty doubtful though. Having been to both countries its obvious that scotlands tourism industry far exceeds anything that Norway has to offer its also pretty obvious to anyone whose been to both countries who has the best agricultural potential

then theres all scotlands lovely wind and hydro electric power

and as for entrepreneurs never heard of carnegie or duncan bannatyne ?

Mmm what happens to Scotland if the world economy crashes and the price of oil takes a dive. Do the fields which become marginal close down or does an independent Scotland have to slash it's oil tax take and thus the whole basis of it supposed financial strength ?

Will Scotland be more like Iceland or Ireland rather than a Norway ?

cant see scotland being any better off if it were in the uk during this scenario and as been pointed out there is a lot more to scotlands economy than oil and just like Norway, Scotland could salt away cash for a rainy day
