I confess that I have never understood that one. If someone wants to leave, and you believe that you would be better off without them, why fight to the last drop of your blood to prevent them from leaving?Originally posted by scooterscot View Post2) Why would England what to keep finical ties to a state that brings their coffers such burden?Job motivation: how the powerful steal from the stupid.Comment

But most English people don't really give a tulip. Hardly. You have no idea of the source and methodology behind the statistics you quote. Neither do I. (I'm talking about your taxation stats here, not your opinion poll stats).Originally posted by sasguru View PostYou betray a profound lack of knowledge of statistics. Statistics aren't just the data produced, but the methodology behind producing them which are in turn, mathematically based. So sound methodology will lead to sound results.
Of course we can't tell that just from the results - however an opinion poll conducted in accordance with the correct methodology will usually produce correct results to a given margin of error
Hardly puts us in the position of being able to decide.
The opinion poll stuff, I agree is likely to be accurate (ish). When freedom comes along, don't PISH in the water supply.....Comment

Not really actually. I grew up in the union I know nothing else, I'm not using history to form the basis of a decision.Originally posted by The Spartan View PostSo you're all for Scottish independance then, can I ask why?
From talking with peers one opinion is clear. An opportunity now exists for Scotland to govern itself independent of London politics. Ever since parliament in Scotland was created changes are noticeable. Change that effect peoples daily lives. I think any vote for independence shall be an extension of that. No one in Scotland actively wants the union broken up, myself included. However the protest for meaningful self governance is noticeable and strong and shall only became stronger without London. That's what will win independence and nothing else IMO. I know many Northerns in England who feel the same way.
If the PM wants the union intact he only needs to abandon city focused politics and Salmond's career is over.
I took these pictures when Scotland won the right to have it's own parliament 13 years ago. We had a right party.

I'll almost certainly benefit from revenue invested in the country rather than spent in pointless wars."Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience". Mark TwainComment
