Generally I support the teacher. But my son had one who was useless and he learnt nothing that year. However, these things are always subjective. Maybe others thought she was a great teacher? She was certainly very pretty...

If you consider it an extension of university, what about that... boarding for the last few years as a middle ground between being coddled by mummy, and thrust to fend for yourself in the big bad world?

There is something to be said for boarding for the last few years. However, a great many "professional" parents are looking to get them boarded up not long after they can walk!!
And being at home does not necessarily mean that excessive "coddling" has to take place.

Like it or not, customers have every right to be satisfied with the product they are paying for. And I disagree that "most parents" would automatically take the child's side. Most of the parents that might be so inclined are unlikely to want to put their cans of Special Brew down long enough to want to traipse up to the school. It might mean them missing the best parts of Jeremy Kyle.

I think it seriously depends on the school - a dodgy "private" is probabaly worse than a comp, as Dodgy shows, but the best "publics" are excellent.

Just think how bad my spelling would have been had I been sent to a comp.
