A diplomatic storm in a teacup, they are embarrassed to have been caught out and are trying to save face, in addition, they probably fear it will damage their efforts at joining the EU. The article states several times that she cannot and will not be extradited, so it's a bit of a non-story. Dodgy's right, it's probably a tactic to get more cash.

I like Fergie and I feel sorry for her. She is thick and she has been spoilt, but she is quite harmless and sadly quite incapable of dealing with her inflated status. She would have been much happier as a chav.

Funny how she can not be extradited using the excuse that she has not broken any UK law yet that young computer chap can be.
I think the Turks have every right to extradite her as she broke the law in Turkey when she was there. I applaud what she did, but she has to be willing to face the consequences of her actions.
          Just saying like.

          where there's chaos, there's cash !

I could agree with you, but then we would both be wrong!

What the young chap did is also a crime in the UK so he can and should be extradited.

Not the one I am on about.
The one I am talking about put up a website which had links to show other users where they could get free downloads of music/tv/video etc. Not that McKinnon chap who was/is a hacker.

BBC News - 'Piracy' student Richard O'Dwyer loses extradition case
That is indeed an interesting case as it's not clear whether what he did is illegal under UK law.

Slightly off topic but the Turkish don't want to join the EU or anyone else for that matter, they are a very powerfull country being situated between the west and the arab world and many countries from both sides court them, we probably need them more than they need us
