There was a rather awkward episode with next door after their female prize show dog needed the morning after pill after Woody (apt name really) got a whif and broke into next door to service the poor bitch. (she was an afghan hound and home two foot taller than Woody...)

Mad as a box of frogs that dog was!
He shoulda shipped it off to Holland and make some money out of it!

Always do your research on the breed before buying else you end up in this situation...
Shame on him for buying a dog and then having to give it away because he couldnt cope... makes me so mad, as there are so many dogs looking for good homes.
That might be the normal easy option for an excuse, but actually he was the fittest Spaniel I ever saw. He had the run of a 12 acre paddock while my mate was working (master carpenter by trade) and also had a rather large estate (as in stately home not an ex council block) backing onto my mates house. That dog was just horny and the chop made him worse. I tried him out with my two dogs but they looked quite distressed at he idea of having him stay for good. He spent the entire week running around my walls and would have done loops of the ceilings if he could have got a better run up. He went to an ex police dog handler in the end and 4 years on still shags hunts or eats anything that cant repel him..

By the way how many dogs do you own?

Dogs from working breed don’t just need big fields to run about in, they need mental stimulation and proper walks with their owner on a lead. Disciplined walks twice daily for at least an hour each time on lead to wear out the mind, then plenty of ball chasing and finding games etc to wear out the body and feeding 1hour after getting home only once calm - And don’t feed dry food – its full of Cr@p that makes they hyperactive!

When giving the chop, you need to get them into a calm state of mind first, else as you say, it just makes them worse…

Some dogs are a bit mental, but then that’s why you research the breed first before buying as it gives you an idea of the probability of having a mental one.
As for me, ive owned many dogs in my lifetime, all large breeds.
I currently have two dogs. A RESCUE Rottweiler who was abused by his previous owners and cast out as a stray. He was going to be put down, as because of his breed nobody else would take him.

And a Lab' Pup, 5.5months old from working bloodline – had her since new.
Also have a RESCUE cat (2nd RESCUE cat I’ve owned) who was cast out by previous owners.

I also support the local animal RESCUE charity so know the extent of the problem… which is why i get a bit upset about it.. but anwway, it sounds like your mates dog found a good home which is what matters the most
