Who'd be a ticket inspector

Was on train at weekend opposite 2 girls curled up asleep WITH THEIR FEET on the seats.

Inspector came, woke them up and asked them to remove their feet from the seats ad other people have to sit there.

They responded with a load of abuse. Train was full but nobody chipped in to stick up for the inspector.
Didn't want the hassle. Feel ashamed really now so next time I see someone with their feet up I will tell them to remove them immediately.

What would you do?

Nope, but someone did that a few weeks ago, removed a chav from the train and was then charged with assault.

Actually it turned out that the chav was just a fairly unassuming student who bought a return ticket but was issued with two single tickets. He was tried to explain this to the ticket inspector, but the ticket collector didn't listen and just demanded he get off the train, the student started arguing with him and then this bloke came along and without asking or saying anything grabbed the kid and threw him off, when he tried to get back on to fetch his rucsack, which had his insulin in it because he's a diabetic the big bloke threw him head first down on the platform, fortunately he didn't have much more than a few cuts and bruises and managed to get a taxi home.

Public transport etiquette

Assuming the person in question has shoes that are not muddy, is somebody putting their feet on a chair on public transport really that offensive that you have to say something?

Why do we correct someone for such 'minor' behavior but let other bigger issues go unsaid??

Either way, it might be a reason why people don't jump to the assistance of the ticket inspectors.

Well seats are for sitting on and the seats on a train are for other passengers, they're not there so people can sprawl out. Trains are generally packed to the brim with people so what makes them think they're so special

If train is not crowded, and they use one of those free newspapers to protect the seats, then fine. After all, surely no-one is going to read the metro? Though city am is worth reading for the editorial.

You missed out the bit where the ticket jobsworth warns the student that other passengers might start to get angry with him for holding them all up.

All he had to do was call for the transport police and they would have dealt with the matter at the next station
