It is relatively easy to legally own a gun, even if you're not a citizen. You have to have secure storage for it. A kid in my daughters' school was killed last year when his father's gun went off while he was handling it. There's relatively little crime here, but it's not to do with gun ownership. (The gangs that come over from France and other countries to do burglaries often are armed though). An apartment block on the main road near us was being refurbished.
