Post IDs are a bit harder thoughOriginally posted by administrator View PostYou can all give up now - there may be another temporary winner but time stamps can be changed

Originally posted by NickFitz View PostWRCS, but just to explicate matters...
Each post to the CUK forums receives a unique ID (its Primary Key in the database, for those who know and care about such things). These IDs are allocated sequentially, in the precise order that posts are made, and therefore offer the definitive means of establishing which was the last post of one year and the first post of the next, even though the time shown on any post is only accurate to the minute. The post with a time of 23:59 and the highest ID must be the final post of the Old Year; and the post with a time of 00:00 and the lowest ID must be the first post of the New Year.
There is a URL pattern that allows one to view any post by its ID:
where the "ddddddd" bit is the post ID. So, for example, test please delete allows us to see Browne Issue's worthy achievement of the millionth post, in TPD (naturally).Code:http://forums.contractoruk.com/ddddddd-post.html
By checking out a few posts close to midnight, the Last Post and First Post can easily be established.Comment
