The best one I ever saw (and ate in) was Lloyds Bank on Pall Mall (wonder if its still going)
The only works canteen I've seen where alcohol was available...<hic!>

No wonder they went down the pan. One can only imagine what kind of excesses they indulged in if they were offering booze for employees in the canteen.

But I never go. I've worked at some places with great canteens, the DHSS at Elephant & Castle comes to mind just for the breakfasts. One place I worked in at Edenkoben the food was not that but everyone had a litre of beer with it for lunch.

WHY do they have to be so tulip?

Present clientco has the best restaurant I've been to(outside of the US).

Choice of 4 meals. All freshly cooked. x 2 - meat or veggie on each one.

Two fresh soups each day.

Salad bar + lots to go with

Additional Rice, Hot potatoes plus 5 fillings

Free veg and potatoes to top up your meal and the desserts.........

Cheapest meal £2.12, most expensive £4.12.

Current clientco has a good choice, curries, noodles, salads, burgers, variety of nicer stuff - grilled salmon etc. Not particularly cheap but not bad for what you get. Supposed to be one of, if not the largest staff restaurant in Europe. Not sure about that but it's certainly a decent size.
