      Have to look at ALL the costs surely ? That sort of mileage you are going to be using up cars in 3-4 years, something cheap, diesel and over 3years old.

        Maybe easing off the pedal from 90 to 70 may help.......

          Not sure of the mpg, but it fits with your image perfectly

          Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

          I preferred version 1!

            I did that on the way home last week. Zeroed the trip computer while on the M40, doing 70 and stayed around that speed, seemed odd only using lanes 1 and 2. My Mondeo was reading 60mpg all the way up the M40 and only dropped when I got onto the M5. After a cr@p journey up the M6, it had dropped to 54 by the time I got home. On the way down it had dropped to 44 as I was driving normally (because I had the tulips and needed to!!)

              What's important is the pence per mile cost. For example, you might buy a car that does the best MPG, but the service intervals are short, the servicing cost is high and when it comes to time to sell or part exchange, you get fook all of your hard earned back.

              Taking this into consideration, if you are a miser and enjoyment of motoring and prestige means nothing to you, buy a 2nd hand Skoda diesel and take out a 3 year warranty on it and join the RAC. You'll save a fortune on depreciation meaning the pence per mile is lower than any new car.

              Work it out.
