And its been downhill since then. We urgently need a prime minister who will slash red tape and simplify tax.

So where were you when the news broke?

I was tucking into either a late breakfast or early lunch in a greasy spoon caff when it came on the telly.
Behold the warranty -- the bold print giveth and the fine print taketh away.

I was at home watching the news. I refused to believe it for a while. I believed she would just carry on.

Things got worse when I found out who her replacement was. I can't think of a worse prime minister. Major made Brown look good.

I agree - that whole Eggwina thing gave him huge amounts of street cred imho.

In fact reading this LINK he does seem a bit of a hero.

I never knew the UK was in recession in the early nineties - mind you I was only 18!!

I found major infinitely preferable to most of the Tories of that era. It was unfortunate that he was surrounded by greasy tosspots as he seemed like quite a decent bloke.
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

Major was a good PM. He never got the credit for most of his achievements. He was quiet but made steady progress. He was let down by sleaze and undermined by Labour who exploited said sleaze.

                    Just saying like.

I could agree with you, but then we would both be wrong!

He inceased red tape. He complicated the tax system. He started the removal of ACT. He started the fuel escalator.

Admitedly Labour made all the above worse. But he started it.

However I admit bonking Edwina was a good achievement. I could not have managed that.
