Now where were we, oh yes you were wringing out your sheets.

Now man up and hunt this director down.
Why would I do that? I'm the project lead. Feck him.

I'll just do what I thinks best(like every other project I deliver here(on time, to budget, exceed scope, lots of happy bunnies).

He'll soon come running once I tread on a toe or two.

The 'schoolboy error' is not accepting an invitation to a meeting.

I am a great believer(which we know Suity is not) of getting your foot in the door of as many rooms as possible. The trick is to move outside the area of IT and into the business by becoming the SME on particular subject areas. Once you can reach that point you can become indespensible(you also become busy) which in turn leads to contract extensions / higher rates and kerchiing, kerchiing, kerchiing. The mistake of the directorship here, is allowing me to get my foot in the door.

The schoolboy error was getting involved in reporting solutions in the first place. A poisoned chalice if there ever was one.

I've been doing it for 14 years. Bit late to back out now.

But he takes a scatter gun approach, opening every door schoomzing up to whoever will listen, mopping up any crumb of work.

He is this directors bitch and he knows it. Dumped right in it. What a tool.

Defeatist. I did five years in user support at the start of my career, and I managed to escape with only minor neuroses. I haven't seen a proper "user" for years.
