    I think GV's notions are very accurate.

    I also think a very large proportion of people in the UK are having their own personal financial crisis but are too embarrased to admit it (I know members of my own family and circle of friends in this situation)

    Remember, we live in the age of "bling" where to admit not being able to afford the latest "must have" gadget is social suicide.

    The trouble is that credit cards are maxed-out, huge amounts of cash has already been withdrawn from the "equity" in peoples home and the cracks in this "economic miracle" are starting to show.

    I dont think we are all doomed in the long term, however I do think the population in the UK (and USA) are in for a very long, painful and inevitable recession.

    Lets just hope that people will learn from this period in history, sadly I doubt this will be the case so the next housing/economic "miracle" will be hailed as "being different this time".
