Yeah, but with EU referendums, no means vote again until yes?

Perhaps the Greek pm expects more "yes" votes when public servants suddenly stop receiving their salaries in a couple of weeks.

They do not have enough to pay pubic sector salaries and pensions to retirees at the end of the month.

Time to invest in greek payday loans companies?

I see the doom merchants in the MSM are out in force this morning. If Greece goes it'll be the best thing for the Greek people - short sharp shock and all that. The markets are still rating the Euro though as it will not be the Four Horsemen if Greece do default. I believe it will not be as bad as people are making out. However this is no longer about money, it's about politics so I would not be surprised to see the referendum cancelled. I expect massive forces to be brought to bear on Greece in the next week or so, it's definitely happening behind the scenes already. It's fascinating to watch proper world-changing events.

If Greece leave (and it's still a big 'if') that will however give Portugal an exit strategy which is what the EU doesn't want. The state of the Italian finances is nowhere near that bad but I wouldn't be surprised if eventually they left the Eurozone as well.Neither Portugal or Greece should have joined the single currency in the first place.

Don't blame me, I voted UKIP.

They have cash until mid December, then they're back cap in hand or it's whammo.

Define "whammo", exactly what do you think is really going to happen?

Panzers on the streets of Athens.

All that will happen is that stock markets will drop. A few companies will go bust and Greece will print Drachmas. It's a big issue for them. This could lead to contagion. Money issues in Italy, Portugal, France. Strikes on the streets, civil unrest and a meltdown in Euro economies with increased unemployment.

                It's all bollocks really.

Whammo for them relates to serious civil unrest. Possible military coup in the near future.
