Gordon's been studying for his SATS Level 1 Numeracy exams.

Where is the evidence that Germany is printing Deutschmarks? There isn't any. It's one of those bulltulip rumours that has been doing the rounds for well over a year now.

Do you really think the Germans with their love of planning would allow less than 6-12 months lead time for such a change? Think of all the cashpoints, vending machines, ATMs and computer systems that would need to be updated. Getting the money printed and minted is the least of the problems.

      It's clearly utter cobblers.
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

ATM software can be and is updated overnight - it takes seconds.

Changig the note handling is a change to the software and slotting new cash carriers into the safe.

The ATM is not an obstacle to changing back to the DM.

I suggest that this should be subjected to a comprehensive process of testing before being brought into operation.

They would have to be silly not to have secretly made a contingency plan for the failure of the Euro already.

It's a change to a data table, not the core software - so get back in your cupboard!

It's an opportunity for contractors to invoice for a tulipload of money, so shut up or I'll get my ladder and make you shut up.

                      More bailouts!

It seems to me the problem is democracy. That is goverments' desires to win votes by giving the people what they want, but not asking them to pay for it. Maybe if we ever get out of this, and it doesn't end in WW3, it needs to be enshrined in law that a goverments's first priority is to make the books balance.
