    Some black and white classics:

The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1939) (reminded of this by the Occupy Canary Wharf thread )

    Moby Dick (1956)

    King Kong (1933)

All of the Laurel and Hardy films.
Feist - 1234. One camera, one take, no editing. Superb. How they did it
Feist - I Feel It All
Feist - The Bad In Each Other (Later With Jools Holland)

Don't remember much about the 1933 King Kong. 1976 had Jassica Lange in though, which is always worth repeat.

Logan's Run (1976 again) is also a classic.

        Godfather 1 & 2 (not so much 3)

Meet the Parents (but _not_ Meet the Fokkers)

Bruce Bigalow American Gigolo (but _not_ Bruce Bigalow European Gigolo)

Will Hay comedy films (someone mentioned Oh Mr Porter, and there are several others - The "old" boy Moore Marriott appeared briefly as his own age in one and he looked the splitting image of Tony Robinson)

Nope. Didn't start on an up note either!

As with Easy Rider, cinema of that era was going through a dark phase, which is why some quality films were produced.

e.g. Deliverance ("squeal, piggy piggy" )

Was very young when I first watched it. I remember the scene where Kong splits open a dinosaur's mouth by ripping the jaws apart so all the blood gushes out. Pretty gory for it's day and was a bit much for me at my young age. Thank god it was in black/white.

The 1976 remake was pretty good, modern without going OTT.

Not bothered watching the more recent remake. Hearing about Kong ice skating put me off a tad.

Yep. Farrah Fawcett and Jenny Agutter. Hubba Hubba!

I particularly liked the part where Kong plays with the jaw after he's done the damage.

              And here it is "colorized"...

                    Looks funny colourized.

The jaw breaking still makes me cringe. Maybe this scene is why I find the curb stomp at the start of American History X so disturbing, even though you only get the sound effect not the visual.
